Saxony Welcomes New UNESCO World Heritage Site

At its 43rd session on the 6th of July in Baku, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee included the “Ore Mountains/Krusnohori Mining Region” in the UNESCO World Heritage List. “Muskauer Park/Park Muzakowski” had already been awarded the coveted award as a joint Polish-German cultural heritage site in 2004.

The UNESCO World Heritage title spectacularly underpins Saxony’s reputation as the number one cultural destination in Germany. Tourismus Marketing Gesellschaft Sachsen mbH, with its Managing Director, Veronika Hiebl, at the head, sees in this election the opportunity to bring the Ore Mountains, which are a significant part of the 1,000 year old cultural landscape of Saxony with its unique characteristics, to the forefront of international tourism marketing.
