There are many delicacies to discover in each German region’s cuisine and many restaurateurs are returning to the use of regional and seasonal products which supports their local producers. Here’s just a small sampling of cultural cuisine.


Brotzeit (bread time) or Abendbrot (evening bread) is a typical German tradition with a variety of breads paired with cold cuts, ham or cheese specialties, pickled cucumbers, fresh radishes, or other fresh vegetables. Depending on the season, Brotzeit may be enjoyed on the balcony or the terrace and in Bavarian beer gardens.
