Revolutionary Spring: Europe and the Fight for a New World, 1848-1849, by Christopher Walker (Crown, 2023) covers the revolution that swept across Europe, causing many of its participants, known as Forty-Eighters, to come to America. Walker, a British historian, is well known for: The Sleepwalkers: How Europe went to War in 1914 (2012), which showed that the conflagration was not caused by any one country, but rather all participants had basically stumbled into the conflict. It was a meticulously researched, and elegantly written work.
