AUSTRIA

2025 Summer Festivals

Lehár Festival
From July 4 to August 24, the charming town of Bad Ischl (the former summer residence of Emperor Franz Joseph) welcomed music lovers to the Lehár Festival, Austria’s largest operetta celebration. This year’s program, especially meaningful with the marking of the 200th birthday of Johann Strauss, featured a spectacular production of Eine Nacht in Venedig (A Night in Venice) at the Kongress & TheaterHaus Bad Ischl.

Nestled in the scenic Salzkammergut region, this annual festival blends operetta performances with backstage tours, cultural excursions to Hallstatt, and guided visits to the historic Lehár Villa. With its rich heritage and vibrant musical tradition, the Lehár Festival continues to honor Austria’s contribution to the world of operetta and leichte Muse—an enduring bridge between past and present, tradition and innovation.
