A Piece of Munich’s Soul
From the day the first Oktoberfest beer barrel is tapped in the Schottenhamel tent and the traditional costume parade re-enacting the wedding celebration of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig I and Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen will be held, Munich’s Oktoberfest is a spectator’s delight complete with traditional brass band concerts at the foot of the Bavaria statue and all the other tent activities and amusement rides in between. The world’s largest folk festival—September 19 through October 4, 2026—welcomes six million festival goers from around the globe who enjoy seven million liters (1.8 million gallons) of official Oktoberfest beer. The festival itself is a unique work of art and captures the hospitality and spirit of this special city. Experience a calmer, family vibe during the day and a more festive, rowdy crowd in the evenings.
