Carmel Christkindlmarkt

Hundreds of thousands of visitors annually flock to Carmel in central Indiana. Its Glühwein Pyramid—the first of its kind brought to the U.S. and standing at 33 feet tall—welcomes visitors and creates a festive mood with 3,000+ twinkle lights.

There’s much to do beyond authentic craft and food shopping as Carmel Christkindlmarkt offers a wide variety of family-friendly activities. In the Werkstatt (Workshop), visitors can watch German artisans create a variety of crafts, including woodworking and glassblowing. In the Kinderecke (Kids Corner), letters to Santa can be written and cookies decorated. The Spielhaus (Play House) provides a “meet-and-greet space” for a variety of characters from princesses to Sankt Nikolaus and puppet shows while the Kultureceke (Culture Corner) shares Indiana’s rich German American history through a variety of exhibits.
