The Austrian Alps are one big winter picture postcard and a great destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

Freshly groomed pistes (tracks), snow-covered mountains, cool mountain air, the serenity of a resting winter landscape, and the inviting traditional mountain huts along the way…there are many reasons why skiing and winter activities are enjoyable and just as many reasons why outdoor vacationers seek time on the Austrian slopes. There couldn’t be a better backdrop than the one nature provides here with its diverse mountain landscapes, glistening snow, glittering frozen lakes, and quaint Old-World charm villages. This is where Austria’s Gemütlichkeit which embodies coziness, comfort and home is legendary. It’s where long, snow-covered descents into the valley await. It’s where winter hikes and carriage rides through picturesque snowy landscapes offer a welcome change. It’s where adventure swimming pools, ice skating rinks, and toboggan runs provide family fun. It’s where luxurious spas allow for relaxation post outdoor activities. It’s where cozy, rustic ski huts invite one to while away the hours, sipping mulled wine or home-made schnapps in front of a crackling log fire, surrounded by friendly locals and at times breathtaking panoramic views.
