Experience the Austrian Lebensgefühl (attitude to life) through a winter wonderland.
By Ella Mercer

WINTER. It doesn’t have to be a season to cringe about and one I welcome. In my winter daydream, the air is still and crisp. There’s a shift in the sun’s light and intensity. A brilliant “bluebird” sky softens as clouds move in and snow silently falls to collect on the ground and in the mountains. Winter is the season to add a layer of warmth and enjoy the exhilaration of outside activities: the speed and joy when a skier finds that “perfect line” and rhythm of a mountain slope traverse; the welcomed challenge of charting a new path through a dense forest, an open snow crusted field, or a mountain climb on snow shoes; relaxing in front of a warm fire in a cozy lodge to enjoy après ski offerings. For many, winter is a time to welcome a new realm of outdoor activities. It’s a time to unplug, to unwind, and to recharge surrounded by and in appreciation of nature’s majesty.
