The Bregenzerwald region in Austria’s state of Vorarlberg is renowned for its contemporary wooden architecture, traditional craftsmanship, and sustainable landscape management through a three-tier farming system (valley–mountain pastures–alpine meadows). Across 23 villages, visitors can enjoy a mix of culinary experiences, architectural and design highlights, and the region’s natural beauty. Hiking, cycling, and mountain biking are summertime favorites while skiing, snowshoeing, winter hiking, ski touring and cross-country skiing are enjoyed in winter. The calm and quiet of nature is welcomed all year round and continues to inspire the locals to combine their heritage and traditions with innovative ideas and designs. This balance and appreciation between nature and nurture is shared in tangible and intangible ways.
