What do I do with all my research folders?

GL’s readership and of this department come in all sorts of varieties. Some are Americans, such as me, who have a remote (but widespread) German ancestry and interest. Others are “foodies” who are here (dare I say merely?) for the meats and treats of the cuisine. Then there are others such as German-born and evocatively named Gisela Darling.


In Frau Darling’s case, she was born in the city of Augsburg in Bavaria. “My future husband was stationed there from 1971 until 1974,” she wrote. “All my siblings are still alive and living in Germany. I have been fortunate to visit there on a regular basis.” But for close to 50 years, she has been residing in the small New Hampshire community of Andover.
