Flights have been grounded and travel plans put on hold yet a world awaits right at your fingertips as tourist boards turn to social media channels to share virtual travel destinations with the hopes of inspiring, entertaining and educating. Open the world beyond your door while staying safe and doing your part to “flatten the COVID-19 curve.”
The Wiesbaden Congress & Marketing GmbH started the #wiesbadenkommtzudir social media campaign—“Tourism is resting-Wiesbaden greets digitally.”—as a way to comfort and uplift people’s spirits. Their idea: “If people cannot come to us in Wiesbaden, we simply come to them.”
The group is planning on multi-weekly Facebook and Instagram postings with the hashtag #wiesbadenkommtzudir and recommends visiting the digital travel magazine www.entdecke-wiesbaden.de which encourages readers to read background stories and facts about the Hessian state capital. They also welcome traveler submissions of beautiful Wiesbaden images and memories with the hope that when travel bans are lifted, you’ll visit Wiesbaden in person.
