More than 13,000 foreign visitors to the German National Tourist Board’s (GNTB) online portal from over 50 countries took part in a survey (November 14, 2019 through July 31, 2020) for the TOP 100 destinations in Germany.
1st place: Since its opening in 2001, the Miniature Wonderland in Hamburg has grown into the largest model railway in the world with a more than 16,000 square foot model area. About 19 million visitors have visited the constantly growing Wonder World in the middle of Hamburg’s Speicherstadt.
2nd place: Europa-Park in Rust, Baden, is Germany’s largest amusement park with 5.8 million annual visitors. Eighteen themed areas, more than 100 rides and shows as well as six themed hotels ensure unforgettable experiences.
3rd place: Every year around 1.5 million people from all over the world are fascinated and inspired by a visit to Neuschwanstein Castle. With his idyllic fairytale castle, King Ludwig II contributed to the most imaginative ideas of romantic Germany.
