Book Profiles Church Records Important for German Americans

There’s a new book that every family historian needs, especially one with German-speaking roots. That’s because it’s about church records, which readers of this column have seen mentioned many times as one of the foundational sources for genealogy research.

The book is How to Find Your Family History in U.S. Church Records: A Genealogist’s Guide by Sunny Jane Morton and Harold A. Henderson (Conflict of interest statement before we go further: I’m called an “influential cheerleader” in the book because I was enthusiastic about this project and reviewed some of the chapters in draft form).
But despite my tangential involvement with it, those who know me personally also know that I’m pretty comfortable “calling ’em the way I see ’em” and that if there were flaws in the final product…I’d be pointing that out.
